Privacy Policy

Who we are

HomeHooray is a family household app operated by Magnesium Consultants, LLC (PO Box 1108 ACP 0127-26, Salem, OR 97308). Questions about this policy or your data: privacy@homehooray.app.

What we collect

• Account details for the parent who signs up: name, email, and a password (handled by our authentication provider; we never see your raw password).
• Household and member profiles you create: member names, optional emails, roles, and avatar colors. Children do not need their own login.
• Activity within the app: chores, stars, rewards, redemptions, grocery lists, and calendar entries.
• Shout-Outs: short voice recordings and an optional best-effort transcript, recorded by a member for a parent to review.
• If you enable reminders, a push subscription for your device.
• If you subscribe to a paid plan, our payment processor (Stripe) handles your card details. We never receive or store full card numbers.

Children's privacy

HomeHooray is set up and run by a parent or guardian, who adds each family member and agrees to this policy at signup. We collect a child's name and, when the Shout-Outs feature is used, short voice recordings. We do not require a child to provide any personal information beyond what the parent enters, we do not show children third-party advertising, and we do not sell or share children's personal information. A parent can review and delete their children's data at any time (see Retention and deletion).

Voice recordings

Shout-Out recordings are private to the parents (household managers). They are stored in a private location, are never shown to other children, and are deleted the moment a parent awards or dismisses the shout-out, or after 14 days, whichever comes first. 14 days is a hard ceiling regardless of status.

How we use your data

We use your data only to provide the app's features for your household and, if you subscribe, to manage your subscription. We do not sell personal information and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Who can see it

Data is scoped to your household and visible only to its members according to their role. Voice recordings are parent-only. Access rules are enforced at the database level, and data is encrypted in transit.

Retention and deletion

Voice recordings are deleted automatically as described above. You can permanently delete your entire household and everything in it at any time from Settings, then Security, then Delete household. Deletion removes every member, all activity, all recordings, and the associated logins, and cannot be undone.

Service providers

We use Supabase to host the app, database, and file storage; web push services to deliver notifications you opt into; and Stripe to process payments for paid plans. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking SDKs.

Optional Google Calendar

If you choose to connect Google Calendar, you grant HomeHooray access to your Google Calendar through Google's own consent screen. We use that access only to create and keep in sync a dedicated "HomeHooray" calendar in your account, so your family's events appear alongside your other calendars. We do not read or change your other calendars, and we do not sell or share this data. You can disconnect at any time in Settings, then Calendar, which revokes our access and deletes the stored connection.

Your rights

You can access, correct, or delete your family's data at any time within the app, or by contacting us at privacy@homehooray.app. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA; to exercise them, contact us at the same address.

Changes to this policy

If we make a material change, we will update the effective date and version above and, where appropriate, ask parents to agree again.
